ANA MATSIS
Ana began her career as a commercial lawyer in 1988 and soon after qualified as a New Zealand registered patent attorney specialising in trade mark, branding, copyright and Fair Trading Act issues. During a 15-year period, Ana worked as a trade mark attorney initially with Rudd, Watts & Stone (now Minter Ellison) and then at AJ Park, as well as in smaller specialist legal practices.
Having taken a break from law for several years to raise a family and travel, Ana went on to qualify and work as a communications and engagement specialist. Her experience in trade marks and branding was a valuable asset to her communications work. During this time she led the communications and brand development strategy to support New Zealand’s successful 2015-2016 UN Security Council campaign.
Ana has now returned to legal practice and works with Catalyst Intellectual Property’s clients to secure their trade mark interests locally and internationally.
Away from work, Ana is an active member of the local Greek community and has produced several documentaries about its history and people. Ana also enjoys open water swimming but usually opts for laps in an indoor pool to compensate for Wellington’s cooler temperatures.
