Siew-Lee specialises in intellectual property in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). She advises clients through the complex maze of software-related patents, where the patentability requirements often differ from one market to another. Being an engineer by training, Siew-Lee enjoys learning about new technology and has extensive experience in various areas such as cloud computing, networking, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and computer-assisted medical technology.

Siew-Lee advises a range of clients, from multinational companies to small start-ups, on patent strategies that suit their commercial objectives. Having completed a secondment with one of China’s largest intellectual property firms, clients also appreciate her knowledge of Chinese patent laws and insight into the world’s second largest economy. She has been invited to speak on Chinese intellectual property protection to patent practitioners.

Before embarking on a career as a patent attorney, Siew-Lee worked as a software engineer for Motorola Australia. She has also completed a PhD in Engineering where her research on wireless network optimisation was awarded best thesis in the field of ICT by the University of Adelaide. While qualifying as a patent attorney, she won an award for best performance in designs law and practice from the University of Technology Sydney.
